In addition, Cleveland and the surrounding area boasts a wealth of educational opportunities for engineering students. The Case School of Engineering at Case Western Reserve University offers 14 undergraduate programs, 15 graduate programs, one doctoral program and 12 interdisciplinary institutes and research centers. Students can take advantage of an innovative program at Cleveland State University's Fenn College of Engineering called KCIDE (Knowledge Capturing Integrated Design Environment). KCIDE emphasizes lifelong learning skills and “systems thinking” in all disciplines, not just systems engineering. The “3-2 Program” at nearby Oberlin College gives students three years of prep study in engineering at Oberlin and two years at an affiliated engineering school. Students can obtain an associates degree in electrical engineering at Cuyahoga Community College or the Cleveland Institute of Electronics.
